Following years of excruciating pains and fruitless visits to GPs and emergency departments, I was finally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia some years ago. I had never heard of FM, and the medical professionals I was in contact with knew very little about the condition, some even questioning it's very existence. Suggestions it was 'all in the mind' and a diagnosis of depression ensued... I knew only too well it wasn't imagined and by no means was I depressed.
In pain, yes. Frustrated, yes. Angry, yes. Depressed, no...
FM is a whole-person chronic condition which causes pain in various locations around the body. It increases nerve sensitivity, causes mobility problems and even affects speech and memory in many sufferers.
And yet, despite increases in Fibromyalgia diagnoses, most people don't know about FM and certainly aren't aware that folk around them are suffering greatly each day.
Fibromyalgia hurts. It debilitates. It imposes limitations. It is unseen, yet it is very, very real.
By quitting smoking, not only will I help ease my own symptoms, but hopefully raise much needed funds for Fibromyalgia Association UK who help support fellow sufferers and their loved ones, whilst providing information for medical professionals and support agencies.
That is where your help comes in... By my own admittance, I have little willpower so need all the moral support I can get - if the pennies grow, so, undoubtedly, will my resolve.
Please, please donate if you can....
On behalf of all suffering in silence,
Thankyou
xXx
