Story

If you live in Exeter, Mid or East Devon, Hospiscare is your local adult hospice charity. Should you or a loved one need care for any type of terminal illness, our professional team of doctors and nurses are here to help. Our services are provided irrespective of race, religion, age, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, mental or physical disability, diagnosis or place of national origin.

I have long been a supporter, having previously fundraised for Hospiscare. For many years I donated to the charity, supporting the late Elizabeth Searle who ran in 8 consecutive London Marathons, taking part in her final one in 2021 in her late 70s. She and her husband Dr John, had set up the charity in the 1980's and the very organisation that they formed was there for Elizabeth when she needed it last year. I am running  the London Marathon in memory of a woman who was personally an incredible inspiration. Throughout the months ahead, when training will inevitably get tough, reflecting on her years of commitment to Hospiscare, will uphold me and provide the motivation to see this through to the race in April. I hope in doing so, I will be able to raise funds to help support the work of the charity.
