Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi
As most of you know I am always up for a challenge and this is all about riding a bike every day for 30 days during the month of May. Last year I went metric! I rode 30kms every day completing 900km (around 600 miles). I just about managed it with some difficult and trying days so this year I do know what I am letting myself in for, which is perhaps not such a good thing!
My mission this year is back to imperial (showing my age and much easier to understand). I am riding 30miles every day for the 30 days which will give me a total of 900 miles. I will need to ride my bike everyday for approx. 2 hrs to hit the target (roughly 300miles extra to last year). As an extra I may even stretch to the 1,000 mile target – Who knows!!
Not worked out quite how I am going to find that much spare time!!
The most important reason for doing this is, of course, to ask you lovely people to sponsor me and raise lots of money for Les Bourg Hospice. I have no doubt that most of you will have been touched by cancer one way or another, having to deal with it yourself, a member of your family, someone very close to you, a colleague or a friend.
This is why Les Bourg is so important and with their new development, will be able to continue to provide their wonderful care in surroundings that can only enhance the time patients have with their loved ones. Time which will be so very special to them and to those who will be left behind.
I was blessed to be godmother to Adam, my one and only godson, who was diagnosed with leukaemia at the age of 10. He and my son, Ollie, were great mates, and it was with such sadness that he lost his battle so quickly at the age of 12. We often talk about him and the milestones he should have reached, one recently when he should now be in charge of a car. It left me feeling helpless and useless for quite a long time but the least I can do now is try to make things easier for those families, whatever age, who have to deal with these tragic circumstances first hand.
If you feel you are able to sponsor me then that would be fantastic! Last year I managed £1000 and this year I hope to match and if possible exceed that total.
I really appreciate the time you have taken to read this and I hope it has inspired you to dig deep as it will be for me when I am on that saddle at 5am most mornings to get my ride in before I start my real work!
At least I will have the beautiful sunrises to keep me company and hopefully no wind or rain!
Thank you so much
