Story
The Story of Lily Grace May
At the age of 38 my husband and I discovered that I was pregnant! Wow, after years of trying it had finally happened when we had all but given up hope. What a great feeling that was, and as the pregnancy progressed without any problems we felt doubly blessed.
It was not until our baby, Lily, was 12 weeks old that we were given the devastating news that she had a hole in her heart.
It seemed our good luck was running out. In fact if the condition continued without an operation Lily would not survive beyond her 2nd birthday.
Although the heart problem was diagnosed in Dubai, we were advised to return to the UK for the operation.
The operation was performed at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, also known as Yorkhill in Glasgow, the operation was performed when Lily was 14 weeks old.
The surgeon was a wonderful man named Chuck McLean, a huge man with huge hands that mended Lily's heart which was the size of a walnut! We will be grateful to him and all the staff at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children saving our daughter.The nurses of ward 5a were fabulous taking care of Lily and myself for that matter,they are brilliant and would love to thank them,and can't forget all the cardiologists and doctors,they really are a fabulous team.
It is with this in mind that we want to help the hospital and other sick children.
To this end we are creating a charity fund and hope you can find it in your heart to contribute to this.
My husband Warren and two other fathers are setting off on an arduous journey on their motorbikes from Dubai to England, passing through Iran,Turkey,Romania,Bulgaria,Italy,France,Ireland,England and finally Scotland.
It will not be an easy journey but hopefully a journey which will ultimately provide funds for equipment at the Royal York Hospital for Sick Children.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help us to help them with a donation from you and your family and friends. For certain it will be a worthwhile cause.
