Story
So, having managed to get to Paris last year from Portsmouth without a disastrous saddle sore story, I thought I'd try my luck this year going from London to Paris. "Simple", I hear you say - "you've done that already"......well, sort of, I agree. Changes this year, however, are that I have one less day to complete the journey, and day one is a lovely 95 (yes, that's right 95) miler to Dover!!!!! How adventurous!
As per last year, I'm riding to raise money for Help for Heroes, which is doing a fantastic job helping those injured in training and operational incidents, but which really does need continued support. Also, like last year, the admin element of the trip will be covered, so your money really will go to those who need it.
I've yet to start training, although I have been to a few spin classes in the gym, which have highlighted the fact that there is some way to go. I'm doing it with a friend this year, and we've booked ourselves on a London to Brighton practice run, as well as a training session with her husband (who's an extremely fit competitive sportsman - I'm scared already!).....our back up plan of putting our bikes on stands and taking the Eurostar to Paris may yet become necessary....!!!
I'll stop the waffle here, and just say that if you can spare any amount, I, and Help for Heroes, will be most grateful.
Thanks, and I will keep you updated!
Andrea (or Madge if that's how you know me).
