Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and thank you for all of your support so far which will encourage Ben!

Ben has been treated at RMCH now since he was approximately 3 years old after being referred from our local hospital whom have been looking after him since he was 10 days old and still do. .  Ben suffers with a number of health issues - asthma, food  and environmental allergies, gord, joint hypermobility syndrome and also has a bone age delay of approx 2 years.  Ben is now 1 year into a 3 year immunotherapy treatment plan for his allergies and we are already seeing amazing benefits to how this is helping hay fever and associated symptoms and asthma.  Joint hypermobilty is a little more difficult as it can be unpredictable and he is affected by pain fatigue and makes simple every day tasks such as getting dressed, fastening laces and even getting out of bed more difficult.  He undertakes a home Physio plan to strengthen his joints.  He now has a splint  to hold his finger in the correct position so he can hold a pen at school and he also has assistive IT to ease the pain in his fingers wrists and arms.  He also suffers frequent nose bleeds and has regular cautery and we have been told this is due to the connective tissue and linked to his hyper mobility.  The hospital is a special place to Ben and has become a way of life as he has regular appointments.  He just wants to support his special place where each patient is treated as an individual and the consultants and wider teams really know their patients well.
