Here we go again, another challenge that is sure to bring lots of pain, but also lots of reward.  The Dobson Sisters are going to be running the Great North Run in aid of Diabetes UK on 19th September 2010.

There are currently over 2.6 million people with diabetes in the UK, of which our old Dad is one, and there are up to half a million people with diabetes who have the condition and don't know it.

Including both adults and children, it is estimated that:

• 15 per cent of people with diabetes have Type 1 diabetes.
• 85 per cent of people with diabetes have Type 2 diabetes.
• Diabetes UK funds vital research for a future without diabetes, while helping children and adults to manage their diabetes today.

With your support for our insanity, Diabetes UK can continue to provide invaluable services such as our support holidays for children and families, and the Diabetes UK Careline, which all provide information and emotional support for people living with diabetes.

Training has already begun with suprising regularity, despite it being months away!  However, the date will be upon us in no time and I'm sure that one of us will be uttering the words 'I wish I had trained more'!
