We are here for every cat to keep them happy, healthy and safe.

Story

Cats Protection Andover Branch rescues and re-homes cats, provides assistance with neutering costs for domestic cats and kittens and
helps manage and support feral cat populations through our Trap, Neuter & Return programme. The branch is self-funding and has to raise the funds every year to provide food, shelter and vet care to the cats in our care. Our branch is run solely by volunteers. Thanks to the leap year this year we also have an extra day to fund our cat care work!

It is our policy never to put a healthy cat to sleep and we believe that there is a new, loving home somewhere for each and every cat in our care. We are a small group of volunteers working to rescue and re-home stray & unwanted cats & kittens in the Andover area. All our cats are looked after by dedicated fosterers at their own homes. £180 is the average amount it costs us to care for each cat.

It may be that the cats who come to us stay only a short while but quite often, particularly if they come to us injured, ill or as an ex stray, they stay with us for a longer period of time until they are fit and well, have been microchipped and vaccinated and in the case of a cat over 8 weeks old, neutered. They then go on to our homing list for adoption to good homes. Whilst they are with us we need to provide them with food, litter and pay their vets fees, which can run to thousands of pounds per month.

Help us fund the extra day we'll be operating this #LeapYear so we can be there for cats like Snowy (see his story below). £35 could pay for a full veterinary healthcheck, or £50 could help us neuter a feral cat. Any funds raised over and above the targets will be used to help other cats and kittens in our care.

Snowy came in from an elderly gentleman who had taken Snowy on as a stray about 5 years ago. Due to the gentleman’s ill health he took the sad decision to hand Snowy into us for rehoming. He had a full veterinary check, including neutering and a dental to remove some teeth. He’s hardly got any teeth left now but we’re sure he is feeling a lot more comfortable. Snowy is now looking for his perfect home.
