Story
Important update...
I started the ride on fine form and was looking forward to raising funds for Parkinson's UK through my efforts. Unfortunately however I then succumbed to illness meaning I was unable to eat and was too weak to cycle. Having taken advice from race organiser and medics I knew it was neither wise nor safe to continue given how weak I was. I am devastated to have had to pull out. I hope my determination to get to the start line, including the training and the previous accident, were worth the generous donations I have already received. I want to thank everyone who supported me in aid of Parkinson's UK which does the most fantastic work to help those with Parkinson's.
Original story...
I am proud to be taking part in the Ride Across Britain event as the Ambassador for Parkinson's UK, which is Anderson Strathern's charity of the year. The plan is to raise both funds and awareness for the charity, which helps people deal with the challenges of Parkinson's.
I'll be cycling between 100 and 120 miles per day (and climbing between 3500 and 8500 feet per day) each day for nine back to back days. The route is 980 miles in total. I'm hoping to raise £9,800 - £10 per mile.
