Anas's USIC Scafell Pike Challenge: wells for our fellow people in Ghana

USIC Scafell Pike Challenge · 17 November 2018
Water is required for the function of every organism on Earth, deprive someone of water and you are depriving them of their life. It's very easy to forget about those people in the charity commercials who walk miles upon miles for clean water, but they exist, and they are suffering. Now think about the people who you might have not seen in the commercials, the people who walk miles upon miles to reach a filthy river, fill a bucket with water from this river, then walk back the same way to bring this home, these people exist too, and they are also suffering, they are the Ghanaian people in my profile picture. How can we call ourselves a developed society when we fail to properly share the water we drink, the water we flush our toilets with, the water we bathe and shower in, the water our little ones use for water-gun fights, the water we sprinkle our gardens with, the water we literally swim in. Then we think "it's not really my fault, it's the fault of the big companies who have power", I discovered I too was having this lazy thought until writing this paragraph, of course it's our fault, it's my fault, your fault, everyone's fault, but don't rely on the big companies and charities to fix everything, you have a lot more power than you think, you are the driving force of these charities that you rely on to save our world, don't underestimate yourself nor your wealth, fulfill your role as a driving force, quickly before more people suffer, why wait for the world to slowly develop until the death rates decrease a little? Why not stop the death rates now? Every little helps, if more people just change their way of thinking, things can truly change. Children are dying as you read this paragraph, every year, 3600 children in Ghana die of diarrhoea as a result of unsanitary water (unicef) . It's shameful, it's embarrassing and it needs to stop.
Abu Hurairah narrated that Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said,
“When a man dies, his good deeds come to an end except three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, and righteous offspring who will pray for him.” (Muslim)
Sa’d ibn Ubadah reported: I said, “O Messenger of Allah, my mother has died. Shall I give charity on her behalf?” The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Yes.” I said, “Which charity is best?” The Prophet said, “A drink of water.”
