PLEASE HELP TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE …
My name is Ana Oliveira. I will be doing the Nepal hiking trek from 1 to 11 of November 2012 for the amazing Macmillan Cancer Support.
I have never done anything like this before, but this year I was moved. I wanted to do something in memory of my uncle that passed away on 28 of January 2012 from cancer.
Only a year ago he was a healthy man enjoying his retirement and living a normal life. No one would ever think that whithin a year life would change drastically, but it did. During last year I have seen how much Cancer can deny a person of the ability to do everyday things that we all take for granted.
I also realized how much a person with cancer requires, not only physical, but emotional support. His amazing family (daughter and wife) dedicated so much energy in making sure that every step of his day, and every second of his life was fulfilled with love and support.
After his death I decided that I would like to do something in his memory and at the same time would help families and people suffering from cancer in the UK. Help them to get the support they need in such difficult times in their lives. Macmillan Cancer charity understands, cares and provides that so much needed support required in such hard times, especially for those with no family.
The money raised goes to amazing people that dedicate their lives doing wonderful things for patients. Nurses that help with the treatment, experts at the end of the phone to provide information, advisers to tell you of what you entitled to, campaigner pushing for better cancer care and the list could go on and on.
Each participant must raise a minimum of £3400; At least 65% of this money will benefit Macmillan Cancer Support, the balance being spent on the costs of the participant’s trip. 100% of any sum raised over £3400 will benefit Macmillan Cancer Support. The money used for the participant’s trip goes for a good cause too; the local communities in Nepal have jobs created by the Discovery Adventures for this trek. Discovery Adventures hires guides, cooks, porters and drivers from the surrounding villages to support the local communities.
Cancer is one of the toughest fights that most of us will ever face, but with your help we can make sure that no one has to go through it alone. The Macmillan Cancer Support team can help everyone affected by cancer every step of the way but we all can support them to be able to do such fantastic job.
Please support my cause, if you cannot give a lot, give a £1.One pound will not make a difference in your life, but it will transform someone else’s life.
