We improve standards of education in Africa to ensure children get a quality education

Story

Hi everyone,

on April 4th Kirsty, Andy and I plan on hitch-hiking to Morocco. This is a sponsored event and all money we raise will go to Link Community Development (LCD), the aims of which you can see on the left.

In order to be allowed to go we each have to raise £350. Your hard-earned money will not fund a holiday for us but will go to LCD, who will spend the money on a wide variety of projects, from setting up new links between here and the target countries to paying for school teachers to go on literacy courses to help them better teach their pupils. It's definitely a worthwhile cause, helping disadvantaged children to help themselves for their own better future. It also guarantees I can go on this trip of a lifetime before I graduate, get old and boring etc...

For more information on the charity itself you can go to the website at http://www.lcd.org.uk/, or if you're interested in how we're getting along once we've set off you can track our progress at http://hitch.lcd.org.uk/hts/.

You look like you're considering sponsorship, so please go ahead- whether it's that collection of 1 and 2ps you can't be bothered to take to the bank because it's too heavy (we'll obliging do a collection), euros off that holiday or a spare sterling pound it's all appreciated! Indeed, if you have no money on your card or whatever, there will be a collection pot in the Cambridge Pub on the Liverpool Uni campus.

Photos of the whole adventure will duly be made available to everyone, and thanks very much again,

Amy
