Story
2019 is looking like a pretty big year for me... I'm turning 30 and hopefully graduating from my doctorate. But I have also been thinking about doing a marathon for a little while and wanted to do it before or around my 30th birthday.
So why not go for the London Marathon and raise lots of money for a cause that means so much to me - Diabetes.
I’ve chosen Diabetes UK for my brother and granny. My brother was diagnosed at 18 years old with Type 1 and my Granny has Type 2. It’s crazy to see how diabetes, a life-changing medical condition, affects their day-to-day living experience: how they eat, exercise, drink and take care of themselves.
Diabetes UK provide support, advice and guidance for those who have diabetes and to their friends and family members. They have the only UK helpline, they hold network events, have helpful information sheets and support access to health professionals. They support pioneering research into cause and prevention, improving care and treatment, and working towards finding a cure. Furthermore, Diabetes UK campaign for change at a national and governmental level!
Since starting my marathon training, the help and support from the Diabetes UK London Marathon team has been amazing. It’s brilliant to see those with or without diabetes supporting each other to raise lots of money to help create change for those with diabetes and their families 😊.
So please help me fundraise and hopefully we can help really support people with diabetes or their friends and family!
