Story
I am doing this charity skydive for shine - the charity that gives continuous support to Freya and people like Freya who are effected by hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida.
Shine needs recognition for what they do and how they support people. I managed to raise over £1000 in the past few months so this is my next mission!
A little about Freya ;
Freya is a beautiful 6 year old little girl who has had health issues since she was born (even her birth was a traumatic one) we as parents have been passed pillow to post regarding what has been wrong with Freya, she was diagnosed with hypertension, dyspraxia, flat foot, vitamin D defect to name a few. We constantly pushed for a MRI scan as a mother I wasn’t convinced this was it , eventually we got her for a MRI scan but only because she struggles at school to the point she has been put back a year. She had her scan in July, we then received a letter few weeks later saying they had found a cyst and excess fluid round her brain - we had to wait till September to see a neurosurgeon (this was because this typical surgeon was the only one who could do this type of procedure) as we sat in his office and hearing the words your daughter needs brain surgery as the fluid build up is practically drowning her brain , this was a Thursday by Tuesday she was a inpatient- freya had her brain surgery the following day, she had a ETV (Endoscopic third ventriculostomy) 24 hours later she became very ill she had picked up a infection. Nearly a week later we was discharged and Freya has never been the same. She didn’t go to school for nearly 2 months, she wouldn’t see anyone or speak to anyone, she would get very upset if I needed to go anywhere. Her recovery was very difficult , she has gone from the happy go lucky kind of girl to a very emotional angry confused little girl - a absolutely heartbreaking thing to see as a mother. We was told Freya was born with hydrocephalus and she was very lucky as it wasn’t fatal for her - it should of been as if hydrocephalus isn’t dealt with straight away it’s fatal.
Freya had another brain procedure on 28th March 2019 with no answers - the next step is more tests due to her severe headaches & highly possible more brain surgery.
Freya is 1 in 500 of the infants born with hydrocephalus and she is our little warrior 🥰
Please support me and help me raise awareness and funds for this amazing charity, if it wasn’t for their constant support I wouldn’t of been able to cope.
