Story
This is our story. We are sisters, born 18 years apart. Our lovely mum Heide was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's Disease in 2014 at the age of just 66. Heide has always been fit as a fiddle; a busy working mum; our mum is one of life's angels. Mum has led a healthy life, never a smoker or a drinker, she's testamant that this disease does not discriminate
Her dementia may have robbed her of her mobility, but her kind soul remains and she still has a smile for everyone, and moments spent with her now are precious.
Our plight is to raise awareness about Dementia. It affects 1 in 3 people. It is degenerative, and there is currently no cure. The impact on those directly affected is immense.
We want to do our bit to change the way things are. We are raising money for the Alzheimer's Society because we believe in the charity's stated mission to find a cure and to support the people with the disease and their families.
Amy has run several marathons and climbed Mount Kilamanjaro and has already raised over £15,000. For Sally, this is her first major fundraising attempt. She turns 50 in 2018 and never one to shy away from a challenge, she will dig very deep to run in this, her first Marathon and face the ultimate mountain range.
And all because Mum instilled in us to never give up and be the best we can be. Mum's always believed in us, we hope you will too - we'll give it all we've got and more.
We hope you too will dig deep, into your pockets and help us smash that £10,000 target!
