Story
In May 2013 I sadly lost my amazing dad after being diagnosed with Prostate cancer in September 2012. My dad was taken from us way too soon, there was still so much life left in him and so much that we as a family hadn't got to share together.
On Friday 7th June-Sunday 9th June 2019 I will be taking part in the Football to Amsterdam Cycle in memory of my amazing dad. The main principle of the event is to raise awareness and funds so that one day we can beat Prostate Cancer. The event itself has very cleverly linked two male orientated things; footballs and cycling, but of course no event is really an event without a bit of girl power thrown in....this is where I come in! The team I am cycling for (other than team Dad!) goes without saying....Spurs!
(Please don’t let this put any of you arsenal fans off from donating!). I will be cycling from London to Amsterdam so I need all the support I can get. Ultimately the concept is ‘Men United’ so we are all one big team striving for the same goal no matter what club we are cycling for.
Since losing my dad I have been fundraising for PCUK in the hope that I can raise awareness and crucial funds which help to support men and their families. For the first time, more men are dying from prostate cancer each year than women are from breast cancer, making this male disease the third biggest killer in the UK!! If you are male and are reading this... have you had a PSA test? If not, what are you waiting for? If you are female please urge your partners, sons, brothers, brother in laws, uncles, etc. So many people don't realise how important it is until it is too late...don't be that person, this must stop!! Ultimately I know men don't talk about these things like women do so here is a really useful website if you want to know any more information: www.prostatecanceruk.org
I would be really grateful if you could sponsor me, no amount is ever too small!
Thank you so much for all your support and generosity, and thank you on behalf of all the men out there.
