Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Myself and OB will be taking part in Strictly Learn To Dance 2023 in memory of John. As complete novices to ballroom dancing it's definitely going to be a challenge for us both but it's a challenge that will help us raise money for a charity very close to both our hearts.
SO WHAT IS THE CHALLENGE?
Myself, OB and 19 other couples will start our 12 weeks of training in January where we will be learning 3 different dances. This will include all couples dancing the Social Foxtrot the Quick Step and a chosen dance, ours being the Salsa. On the 31st March we will all take to the stage to perform at the University of Bolton Stadium with hundreds of supporters watching us. Tickets will be available to purchase so if you want to come and support us on the evening just message either one of us.
OUR REASON BEHIND THE CHALLENGE!
The hospice at home team provided John with outstanding care which enabled him to spend 6 months at home with me and the girls, making unforgettable memories from the comfort of our living room.
In August John was admitted into the inpatient unit at Bolton Hospice. After spending 8 days on the unit John peacefully passed away with myself and his mum and dad at his bedside.
The doctors/nurses/clinical Support staff and volunteers provided John with personalised and dignified care in his final days and I will always be grateful to them for that.
The hospice have continued to support myself and the girls and and have really helped us through what has been a difficult few months.
Bolton Hospice need to raise over £4 million every year to provide the specialist services free of charge. They are an independent charity and government funding only covers a fraction of their costs so they rely sorely on the people of Bolton to help raise the money through donations, fundraising and gifts in wills.
