Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So as many of us have this past year, I haven't done a fat lot. So I said to myself that at the next opportunity I could I really wanted to help raise money for a good cause as the pandemic has really opened my eyes to the people who need help the most. So I have decided to take on the challenge in September 2022 to trek to Everest Base Camp along with other students from Swansea University in order to raise much needed money for Marie Curie.
I will be raising the money for the trip myself, flying from London to Kathmandu, where I will then travel on a twin engined plane to Lukla to start my trek. From there I will trek for 11 days, for several hours each day, reaching altitudes of 5,545m above sea level, to eventually reach Everest Base Camp. As part of this journey I will have access to basic sanitation, no phone reception, no WIFI and lack of amenities we all take for granted such as no hot running water and having to purify my own drinking water. Not to even mention altitude sickness! This will be the biggest challenge I have ever taken on both physically and mentally, but I have decided I want to push myself In order to raise awareness and money for the charity.
Cancer is the most cruel disease which takes many people before their time and unfortunately probably many of us know someone who has battled Cancer. Marie Curie nurses are there day and night for those battling terminal illness and are there through all stages of dying, death and bereavement supporting patients families and loved ones. Their work is paramount and as a result of the pandemic their work is needed now more than ever.
I understand that this has been such a hard time for everybody and if you feel you can donate I would be so grateful, as Marie Curie is such a wonderful cause and the pandemic has undoubtedly hit patients with terminal illnesses and their loved ones the hardest.
