Story
At 11 and 12 years old, Henry, Dan, Finn and Josh may be too young to enter the official London Marathon, but they're not too young for the challenge! These four pocket rockets have decided to take on the marathon their way, running the full 26.2 miles as a tag team!
They have chosen to support the charity Spread a Smile, who bring joy and laughter to seriously ill and hospitalised children and teenagers. With a team of magicians, entertainers, celebrities, therapy dogs and more, they visit children at their hospital bedsides providing activities that support children’s physical and emotional well being, reduce their anxieties, and help them cope with treatment and pain management. Their services extend further to include the painting of children’s radiotherapy masks, painting colourful murals in pediatric wards and waiting rooms, and giving the whole family support with fun outings, theatre trips and events.
In what's been a terrible year for everyone, Spread a Smile have continued to support children in over 14 hospitals, including Great Ormond Street Hospital, Evelina Children’s Hospital and The Royal Marsden, who treat children with the most serious of conditions from all over the UK.
Some of the children they support haven't seen siblings, grandparents or friends for months on end due to strict covid regulations. Spread a Smile have continued to be there, with a programme of zoom workshops and parties, treat drops such as popcorn, jelly, ice-cream, balloons and cupcakes, and hours of fun content on their newly launched Smile TV channel.
Any support you can give The Marathon Boys to hit their goal would be hugely appreciated - thank you!
