Story
I'm just asking for #2pounds60pence!
I'm going to complete a marathon over the next 10 days (starting on 26th April, the day the London Marathon should have taken place). I'll be running at least 2.6 miles a day and am doing this for The Springboard Charity - more about them below.
I'd be grateful if as many people as possible would donate just £2.60 to my fundraising page (with gift aid added, that's actually £3 25 for the charity). Less than the cost of a coffee in a coffee shop or a small glass of wine in a bar (remember those places? I miss them!!)
I think that most people I know are in a position to donate an amount like that and I would much prefer lots of people to chip in the same amount and support my little challenge than for anybody feel pressure to donate a bigger amount or bot be able to contribute. Every drop fills the bucket 💜
ABOUT THE SPRINGBOARD CHARITY: Springboard helps people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities across the UK get into work, but especially those who are young and disadvantaged. There are a multitude of reasons why somebody can particularly struggle to get into a job. - Poverty, lack of training/ experience, mental health issues, a physical disability, learning difficulty, previous criminal conviction, being a carer or single parent, etc, etc.
Springboard offer 1-2-1 mentoring and support, skills courses, employability training (CV and cover letter writing, interview tips, practice and feedback), information, advice and guidance, as well as setting up work experience and placements, followed by aftercare to make sure they can sustain the employment.
I'm sure you can imagine- demand is higher than ever before and Springboard have needed to swiftly adapt to be able to continue to support their current trainees and graduates, as well as take on more. Funding is vital to allow this work to continue!
ABOUT THE 2.6 CHALLENGE CAMPAIGN: Save the UK's Charities - General fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. This impacts all sectors of society from children to the elderly as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, housing support, food supplies and countless others that charities support.
