Amy Malloy is raising money for Streetwise Opera

On Sunday 21 March 2010 I will be taking part in a unique event, learning to sing a reduced version of Bizet’s Carmen on a West End stage in one day. World-famous opera director Keith Warner is generously giving his time to direct the opera and the Ambassadors Theatre Group has donated the Fortune Theatre for the day.
Fifty supporters will be taken through their paces to rehearse excerpts from Bizet’s Carmen and then perform them in the evening to the public alongside some top professional soloists and our very own Streetwise Opera performers.
Streetwise Opera is a truly wonderful charity - their mission is to give homeless and formerly homeless people opportunities to further their personal development through participation in music making of the highest professional quality and to promote more positive attitudes towards homeless people.They run a weekly music Workshop Programme in 11 homeless centres around the country – and also stage an annual production which gives the performers the chance to star in quality shows where there are high-expectations, no compromise and no patronising.
