Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In September 2014 I will be raising money for Alzheimers Society by trekking The Great Wall of China alongside 29 other courageous employees of The Home Retail Group.
For those of you who know me well, will know that this will not only be a physical challenge for me but a huge mental challenge too which no doubt will educate me greatly along the way. (After all, I am the girl who went on holiday to Ibiza and phoned her mum crying because the 'hotel' had no air con!) However this will be an amazing opportunity to help those people in need, and to raise money and awareness for a fantastic cause!
Dementia is caused by diseases of the brain (one of which being Alzheimers) and can affect anyone. There are currently over 840,000 people with dementia in the UK and this figure will rise to over 1 million by 2021!
Alzheimer’s Society supports people to live well with dementia today and funds research to find a cure for tomorrow.
Every pound you raise will help to support people affected by dementia so please aim high!
£100could pay for someone with dementia and their carer to go to their local Dementia Café each week for one month, where they can meet others living with dementia and feel less isolated.
£750 could pay for a person with dementia to enjoy a year of weekly Singing for the Brain® sessions, enhancing their communication, confidence and well-being.
£1000 could mean 80 callers getting the expert advice and support they need from our National Dementia Helpline.
£1,600 could pay for a Dementia Support Worker to spend an hour a week for a year with a carer, giving them the support and confidence they need to care for someone with dementia and look after themselves.
£3,100 could pay for 100 people with dementia and their carers to enjoy one of our Singing for the Brain® sessions
Please support me by donating to this great cause!
