Story
We are running the Great Yorkshire run, which is a 10k race in Sheffield on the 29th September 2013. Neither of us are runners but have taken on the challenge as we'd like to raise as much as possible for the charity Little Hearts Matter, who are supporting my friends baby Jake Willis. Jake was born on 9 June 2013 with a rare heart condition. He has Hypoplastic left heart and critical Aortic Stenosis and has had his first operation, the Nowrood procedure. Jake will have a further 2 operations at later stages. Money raised by donating to our site will be used to help and support children and families like Jake's.
Little Hearts Matter offers support and information, and raises awareness of those affected when a child has only half a heart, due to conditions such as Complex Pulmonary Atresia, Tricuspid Atresia, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) or Double Inlet or Outlet Ventricle (Univentricular Heart).
Children born with only one of their heart pumps face a series of operations.
Every penny raised for Little Hearts Matter goes directly to support the children, their Mums and Dads as well as their wider family to cope with the condition and most importantly to help our little ones to live as active a life as possible.
