Story
When your life is turned upside down it changes your perspective on life.... I have pushed my recovery for the last 3 years, but now I want to take on a new challenge. For those that know me, know I don't do anything by halves, so when the opportunity came up to do something a bit different I thought why not!!
This will be an extremely challenging task for me to take on, 300 miles in four days on my trike.... I will be pushing every limit but with the support of my family and friends, oh and the killer PT Hayley White, I am sure this is achievable.
So why St Lukes?
Through family and friends I have witnessed how St Luke's can have such a positive impact on people's lives in their time of need, not only with the person who has been taken ill but with their families too. They deserve as much help as we can give to keep them going to ensure they can continue to support our community.
Since 1988, St Luke’s has been providing palliative care to local people, supporting them in ways which go beyond the scope and funding of the NHS. Last year we supported over 1,000 local people with a huge range of support from end of life care on our ward to supporting carers, and from helping children cope with grief to helping patients return to work after an illness. We are a charity and provide all our care for free, so we rely on the generosity and commitment of our supporters to raise more than 80% of our costs.
