Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am NOT a runner....I have NEVER been a runner....I’m the kind of girl who would usually consider a gentle jog round the block to be hardcore exercise.....yet, on September 19th 2010, I am taking on what I can only describe as a major challenge for me .... That’s right, I’ll be running The Great North Run Half Marathon (eek!) for the British Heart Foundation....
As many of you know this is a charity particularly close to my heart. Nearly 3 years ago, I lost my dad to heart disease which is why I will be donning my running shoes in September to run in his honour. Coronary heart disease is the biggest killer in the UK and, sadly, an average of 179 people lose one of their parents to a heart attack each day. I was one of the unlucky ones, however, the British Heart Foundation are working tirelessly to bring this statistic down. By pioneering new research and educating people just like you and me to understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle, the BHF are truly committed to a world where people no longer die of such a preventable disease. ....So, back to this run....it’s going to be pretty epic....and I need all the support I can get. I promise, dig deep today and I solemnly swear to share the ‘after pics’ with the world (now surely that’s got to be worth a fiver?!....just think of the bribing material!)
