Story
Graham is a patient that attends day therapy at LOROS hospice. This hospice is for patients that have life limiting conditions that rely heavily upon charitable funds to keep providing the much needed care and support to patients and their caregivers.
Graham approached myself and asked if I would help push him around in his wheelchair to complete the 10k race for LOROS, as a friend to support him. How could I refuse?! I asked my partner Lee to join to support us and he was more than happy to do so.
Graham wishes to not only give something back to LOROS for all they have done for him, but to also raise awareness of his condition- Motor Neurone Disease (MND). MND is an umbrella term for a disease that affects the motor neurones in the body and progressively the patient deteriorates over time, this is a life limiting illness. Graham states he does not want to be another statistic, he wants to raise awareness of MND make a difference somehow and most importantly support LOROS HOSPICE for all the care they have provided to him since his diagnosis.
That said, myself, my partner Lee and Graham will be taking part in the 10k LOROS event on the 1st of October 2023 in Leicester! We know times are hard at the moment for people … but please give what you can and support this wonderful patient and the amazing hospice LOROS… the place I am honoured to be part of as a nurse.
Thank you everyone!
