Story
In March 2022 I was diagnosed with multicentric breast cancer. The diagnosis was a complete shock for the whole family, but our concern was how Dillon (12) and Lucy (9) would cope. Dillon managed his feelings well, but Lucy needed some extra support.
Lucy's school were excellent and provided additional support, but she needed more help. I spoke to our GP, the hospital and specialist nurses but there wasn't anything available for a child of her age.
I then found Hope, just one online self referral and Lucy had an appointment within days. Sue was amazing and she supported Lucy with her feelings and worries and gave her usable coping strategies.
Without the help from Hope Support I do not know what we would have done. As a parent you want to protect your children, and knowing that you are responsible for their sadness is horrible. Finding Hope meant I could help Lucy cope with her feelings.
Help me raise money for Hope so they can continue to support children like Lucy and Mums like me......x
Hope supports young people when a loved one is seriously ill. They're there from the point of diagnosis for however long they're needed, whatever the outcome for the patient. The charity is entirely self-funded and relies on fundraising, donations and grants so that they can carry on supporting young people who are going through such a traumatic time. Any support you can offer really will be appreciated!
