Story
On 15th September I'm running the Bury10k to raise funds for Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis which is a charity that is close to my heart as 4 years ago my beautiful, kind, loving father was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. At the time I'd never even heard of it but after doing a Google search I found that this horrible progressive lung disease is incurable, causing scar tissue to form on the lungs with most people surviving less than 5 years from diagnosis.
To date there is still no cure, only two forms of medication that can help slow down the progression. Little is know about how or why people get the disease, and despite it affecting approximately 70,000 people in the UK, a figure that is increasing, there is very little funding for research.
The heartbreak of my father's passing has made me determined to help others suffering with this cruel disease and raise funds to increase awareness, campaign for better care, provide support to families affected and fund research into effective treatments.
Big thank you to each and everyone of you that has donated whether it be big or small it all helps make a difference.
Love,
Amy and Debs xx
