Story
My friends and I are taking part in the National 3 peaks challenge. Within 24 hours we will climb the 3 highest peaks in England (Scafell Pike), Scotland (Ben Nevis) and Wales (Snowdon). 🏔
The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) 🚶🏽♀️ and the total ascent is 3064 metres (10,052ft)📈. The total driving distance is 462 miles 🚗
I pledged to use this opportunity to raise £3600, this will sponsor 10 orphans for a year! 👶🏽
Global Relief Trust are working across the globe to ensure that these most vulnerable of children are not left to fend for themselves and face such formidable struggles on their own.
There are roughly 153 million orphans worldwide, greater than the population of a vast country like Russia and double the population of the UK.
Every day, an estimated 5,700 more children become orphans, equivalent to the population of a medium sized town in the UK. No single group is more vulnerable to abuse and exploitation.
With your help, we can give orphans a smile on their face and hope for a brighter future. A secure childhood where they don’t have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. We can ensure they have a real chance in life, by giving them access to shelter, education and medical support. In taking care of those basic needs, we want to give them what every child deserves to have – aspirations, confidence, choices and opportunities for the future.
“The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “I and the one who looks after an orphan will be like this in Paradise,” showing his middle and index fingers and joined them together.” [Sahih al-Bukhari]
