OK guys your probably thinking i'm going through some mid life crisis - hmmm actually thinking about it - i am! Lifes experiences have taught me too live in the moment, try to forget the past, think wisely about your future and try to make a postive difference to the people around you now...
A couple of months back i attended a charity dinner organised by Islamic Help. The fundraising event was organised to help raise funds for a Womens Gynae Hospital in Swat Pakistan. Here's an extract from Islamic Helps website on one of their current projects:
'International charity, Islamic Help, who have a longstanding track record of work in Pakistan, have unveiled plans to build a hospital in Pakistan. The £2.5m Gynae Hospital, which will serve thousands of people in the Swat region will specialise in Maternity.
The hospital will have state of the art facilities, with 100 beds and it is hoped will offer life saving treatment in the area. Some of the features include -25 Special care beds (Intensive Care), 75 Regular beds, 2 Operating theatres, 5 Labour beds, Diagnostic facilities, X Ray and Ultrasound, Pathology Lab, Cafeteria, Library, Womens Rehabilitation Centre, Seminar Hall, Staff Residence Apartments, Outpatients Department.' The hospital will specialise in Maternity Services, being a mother, this is a area close to my heart. These women have to walk miles to access their nearest hospital and child birth is often a risky event, resulting in death of baby and often the mother. I know when i was pregnant, i had the comforts of everything around me. I didn't have to think about what will happen if i can't access a Dr or Midwife or what if i die due to lack of services. This thought really touched me.......... So i've decided to take the plunge (literally) - inshaAllah on the 1st of May 2010, i will be taking part in the Swat Saviourz 160ft Bungee Jump in Bray Berkshire. I have made a pledge to raise £500 - but inshaAllah i would like to exceed this target with your help and support. I promise to take pictures on the day too...Come on guys dig deep and support me and the women in Swat Valley Pakistan.
