Hello friends (and friends of friends!)
I'm taking on a little challenge with 20 mins of yoga a day in November for Mind charity, to raise funds for mental health research and support.
My own journey is one I probably wouldn't choose to make again but I have learned a lot about people and myself navigating it.
There were days when fear was paralysing and days when disassociation made it all feel transient and impersonal.
However different, they both robbed me of my sense of self, determination, dreams, and balance.
My way out of them was not linear nor short; as I can still experience them. But sharing, talking, and trusting
that's not all there is in life
restored my faith in people, relationships, and myself.
From the Mind website:
Going through very stressful, frightening, or distressing events can be traumatic.
These events can happen at any age and can cause long-lasting harm and everyone has a different reaction to trauma.
What's traumatic is personal.
Other people can't know how you feel about your own experiences or if they were traumatic for you. But you can talk to them, and if the first attempt doesn't work, try again.
It's difficult and exhausting but it's the only way towards recovery.
More conversations are needed about mental health and raising awareness by small acts is just one of the ways we can do this.
Thank you for your support and Namaste
