Story
Anyone who knew me two years ago will remember that I was never out of the gym, that I would rather avoid social occasions than eat food and that I spent my entire time obsessing over my weight and appearance. Anyone who knew me a year ago will remember that I was controlled by the demons in my head, stuck in a pattern of bingeing, purging and self harm. And anyone who knows me now can see that I have come so far since two and a half years ago - that, despite the slip ups and the bad days, I have overcome two eating disorders. But I could not have done it without the support I received from all sides, not least from other people who had suffered or were still suffering. So I'm reaching out again, to ask all of my friends, family, loved ones and acquaintances for one more favour. Beat is the leading UK eating disorder charity and among other things, allows recovered individuals such as myself to give talks and attend events to raise awareness and help others in the same position that they were in. Since becoming a Beat ambassador I have met so many amazing new people and made so many new friends and have been able to inspire others to recover. Please allow us to continue this amazing work by sponsoring me to run 5km dressed as Santa (another item ticked off the bucket list obvs) this December. Do it for me, do it for anyone you know who has or is suffering from an eating disorder, do it for a better, brighter and more understanding future when it comes to mental health. Together, we can beat it.
