Story
Amelia has decided to take part in the Cornish Seal Sanctuary 'Seal Appeal'. She's a huge animal lover, and the sanctuary is one of her favourite places. She knows most of the seals by name and follows their Facebook page between visits, including one dedicated to famous resident seal, 'Ray'.
To raise funds needed to carry out vital work that they are lacking from closure during the pandemic, the sanctuary have launched an appeal. Amelia has decided to do a daily run around the garden (several laps) and hopefully receive some sponsorship to do so. This will take place every day throughout June, at least. We will update the page with how far she has gone every few days. The sanctuary have named this event 'Sprint for Seals' and aim to get 2000km covered by participants collectively.
Please read the following details from the Sanctuary themselves about their Seal Appeal. It really would mean the world to Amelia if you were able to give, however small. Thank you so much.
At this extremely challenging and difficult time for everyone, the Cornish Seal Sanctuary are increasingly fearful over how they will be able to continue to care for their amazing resident animals, especially with the necessary extension of the Coronavirus related lockdown in the UK.It costs the charity £23,000 a month for their dedicated animal care team to feed, provide daily care, vital medicines and equipment to the Sanctuary's residents. With the Sanctuary being closed at this time, the loss of income from visitors is proving detrimental to our charity. In these difficult and uncertain times, the Sanctuary needs to raise £23,000 which would help to cover a months worth of food, daily care, essential medicines and equipment for their resident animals. This would be an enormous help to the Sanctuary to continue looking after the animals in their care. A donation of any size would go such a long way. Thank you for your generous support!
