We breed and train guide dogs to give blind people freedom and mobility

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

I don't normally run for charity but the Great North Run is quite humbling for its fund-raising efforts.  So I have chosen to run for Guide Dogs.  When you start to read about the difference they make to visually impaired people it's hard not to want to help.

From their website (www.guidedogs.org.uk)...

Once someone has lost their sight, a guide dog can give back a degree of freedom that often feels little short of miraculous. Most guide dog owners will tell you that when it comes to mobility aids, these highly-trained and sensitive animals are second to none.

Guide Dogs requires over £50 million a year to continue its work.  They receive no government funding and their services are entirely dependent on voluntary donations.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Guide Dogs will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now and don't forgot to claim Gift Aid!  You can sponsor me for up to 6 weeks after the event so please keep donating even after 30th September.

Many thanks for your support.

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
