Story
Thank you so much for visiting this page! Most of you will know the reason we are doing this, but for those who don't here goes...
I have always wanted to do a half marathon but up till now my health has told me otherwise. So I have enlisted the help of my sporty friend Kim, she ran a half marathon without any training (I know, mad right!)... So we are running the Hackney half in May, for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Breast Cancer Appeal!
This cause deserves so much... and is really close to my heart. The breast care unit and cancer unit, gave my mum the best care possible when she became ill. Sadly she didn't make it, but this is what the appeal is about. All the money raised will go to new equipment that give women a diagnosed with breast cancer a better chance. Not only this but it will make treatment more bearable, which in turn will lead to better outcomes.
In addition to this over the past through years I have been receiving outstanding care from the breast care unit. This is due to my increased risk of breast cancer from my genetic condition - Cowden Syndrome. 8 biopsies, many scans and an operation, led to the decision to have a double mastectomy this year. I have a couple of things left to have done, but I am at the stage where things are normal now!
I'd be lying if I said any of this had been easy but alongside my friends and family, I had the best possible care.
Overall we just want to give something back and help the women in similar positions to my mum have the best chance...
Any donations no matter how big or small would be greatly appreciated! x x x
