Story
On the 20th May 2013, my very much loved Daddy lost his battle with bowel cancer at the age of just 52. For 20 months he lived with the disease but never let it change his positive and inspiring outlook for the future. He remained strong until the very end and stayed fighting for weeks beyond his medical team's expectations. It is the internal strength and continuing positivity he had that has kept me going through a very tough couple of years and I am now determined to give something back to charity.
The Bobby Moore Fund is a charity specifically aimed at curing bowel cancer, with research including exploring the genetic influence of the disease. With my Daddy's grandmother and his own father dying of bowel cancer, and my uncle suffering from the disease, the work of the charity is very important to me.
Always a fit, active and easy going man I hope that by running the half marathon I can live up to my father's characteristics as well as raising money to contribute to the charity's vital work. On the 20th October, the 5 month anniversary of his death, I will be running in Birmingham for Daddy and all the other families affected by this disease.
Thank you everyone!
