Hydrotherapy is a valuable form of therapy for people living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Our current pool is no longer fit for purpose, so we need to replace it with one that is larger and more suitable to our needs.

Story

I am raising funds for a new hydrotherapy pool. Hydrotherapy offers multiple health benefits including reduced pain and spasticity, increased strength, which might prevent symptoms from getting worse, regaining lost function, enhancing mobility and, thereby, independence. This project was planned after speaking to our users who have told us that hydrotherapy is very important to them, but structural issues with the pool make it difficult to use. The project will address safety and accessibility concerns by providing a larger and deeper pool shell (partially using the current footprint to keep costs down), perimeter handrail, user-friendly steps and an even pool bottom. We will be able to provide group hydro exercise classes and the extra buoyancy required for activities like deep water running and high-level stability training. Environmental sustainability will be achieved by an upgraded plant room and batteries to store electricity generated by our solar panels.
