Over four million children currently live in poverty in the UK, and the Coronavirus outbreak has further illuminated the underlying fragility of family support and household budgets, putting even more families on the brink of poverty. Therefore in April 2020, we took the decision to re-direct employee funds to support Save the Children’s Emergency Response to COVID-19, in order to respond to the urgent needs of struggling families with young children across the UK.
£4 could contribute towards finger puppets used in a Bedtime Early Learning Pack, helping to increase speech, language and communication during Storytime
£5 could contribute towards a Math Play Early Learning Pack to help children explore their early numeracy and develop key skills to get them ready for school
£10 could provide low-income families with a supermarket voucher, to spend on basic everyday food items, to feed their family
£30 could provide low-income families with an Argos voucher, to spend on essential everyday household items, such as a mattress for their children to sleep on, or a dining table
£200 could provide three low-income families with Early Learning Packs, made up of educational toys, books and guidance to support their child’s learning and development
£500 could help provide two families with essential items like a cot, working oven and pushchair to help create a positive home environment that supports routine and reduces family stress
