Story

First of all, let me say thank you for visiting my Just Giving Page!

THANK YOU!!

My name is Amber Winship and I am currently studying towards a BSc in Ecology & Conservation. As an active student who's looking to grab life by the hands, feet, ears and toes, I just couldn't pass on this amazing opportunity! In June 2019, I climbed to the summit of Ben Nevis the tallest mountain in the UK, its peak standing at 1,334m. In 2021 I climbed the tallest mountain in the central Apennines Gran Sasso at a whopping 2,914m. Climbing these and multiple other mountains has sparked my love for adventure and mountaineering.

In August 2023, I would like to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the world's tallest freestanding mountain! It's peak stands at the staggering height of 5895m above sea level. This will be a challenge and a half but I am super excited, with your help through donations, I can help raise money and awareness for a crucial foundation and get my super hyped booty up Kilimanjaro!

My climb is in aid of the Meningitis Research Foundation; a charity which aims to research and raise awareness of two serious
diseases, Meningitis and Septicaemia. Shockingly, meningitis and neonatal sepsis are the second biggest infectious killer of children under the age of five on the planet, which affects more than 2.8 million people every year! The second biggest risk group is students affecting around 1 in 4. The diseases can kill you within 12 hours and are responsible for more deaths of children under 5 than malaria, measles, tetanus and AIDS combined.

Meningitis Research Foundations' work is providing better access to vaccines, health systems that can diagnose and treat children, and support to survivors of meningitis. To see more information on the Meningitis Research Foundation, and where your donations will go please visit:

Meningitis is deadly; killing and seriously disabling in hours. Small children and young adults are high risk, but all ages can be affected. Globally 1,000 people die daily. We fundraise to invest in research, campaign for vaccines, provide symptom information and support those already affected.
