Story
Thank you for visiting this page. In February 2020, I am taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro - Africa's highest mountain at 5,895 metres (19,341 feet) above sea level. We will trek via the Lomosho route over 8 days to hopefully minimise altitde sickness and to provide the best chance of reaching the summit!
I am doing this to raise money for the John King Brain Tumour Foundation (registered charity). The Foundation aims to raise much-needed funds to support the advancement of treatment and research into brain tumours and to purchase equipment for neurosurgery, in association with neurosurgeons at the Atkinson Morley Wing at St Georges hospital trust, London where John received such excellent care.
Brain tumours kill more people under 40 than any other cancer yet just 1% of the annual spend on cancer reasearch is currently allocated to this disease.
Both my mother-in-law and a friend have suffered with brain tumours in the past 2 years, thankfully both of them underwent successful craniotomies to remove their tumours. In fact, I am taking on Kilimanjaro with the friend I mention!
I would be really grateful if you could sponsor me to undertake this challenge, any amount you are able to give will be hugely appreciated by the Foundation. I am self funding the cost of my trip, so every penny you donate will go to the Foundation.
Thank you.
