Story
Our purpose to make good things better extends beyond our
responsibilities to our employees, customers, suppliers, and the environment. Our community is important to us, and when we can make a difference, we do.
Lakelands Hospice is an independent charity committed to delivering the best possible practice and development of specialist palliative care for people with cancer, heart failure and other life-limiting illnesses.
The hospice honours people's right to dignity and respect during all stages of their illness, by improving the quality of life of all hospice attendees and their families.
Lakelands nursing staff provide quality care completely free of charge, without NHS or government funding. This is why we want to help.
Since opening in 2001, Lakelands Hospice has helped in excess of 2000 families. As demand in the community for palliative care and respite day care continues to grow, Lakelands must grow too.
It costs in excess of £515,000 per annum to meet the needs of those among the community suffering from life-limiting illnesses such as Cancer, COPD, Heart Failure, Multiple Sclerosis and Motor Neurone Disease.
The hospice is entirely funded by voluntary donations and support from the local community. We would like to raise as much money for Lakelands as possible as we support the great work they do for the community.
We've asked: Amaray volunteers to meet the challenge of:
- Climbing 3 mountains (Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, Snowden)
- Hiking 24 miles
- Travel 1,000 miles
...within 24 hours!
