Story

Hello and many thanks for visiting my page and supporting me.  Most of you who know me will know I have problems in staying still for any length of time and always off visiting new countries and places!  I guess i have the addiction called 'wanderlust'.  Mum and I used to go on some great trips together our best being to Africa where mum got to meet a beloved giraffe - very special times with an amazing woman.  Mum taught me and my sister you can do what you want in life just go for it!!!  It would only be fitting then on the day mum unexpectedly passed away...the last conversation I would ever have with her was 'if you die mum I want to raise money for charity and sail across the Atlantic'....well to be honest this was a bit of shock to me too, that that came out of my mouth!, as although I had sailed and raced in the past....I had never really had any ambitions to sail 2900 nautical miles across the Atlantic!  But here I am now committed to the task and I am VERY excited (but also a little nervous!).  I want you all to know I am paying for this all myself.....so any money I raise goes direct to the Cancer Vaccine Charity a great little charity who my family have been raising money for since mum died.  I set off on the 15th november to Grand Canaria, Spain, and join 8 other girls to sail across the Atlantic on a 40ft yacht.  Totally under sail....no motoring allowed....we are sailing that baby right over to St Lucia and should arrive about 18-21 days later...  Mum has bought sailing back into my life and its making me a happier person.....  My mum will always be in my heart and she always gives me the strength to live the most amazing, extraordinary life I can full of adventure.  So please sponsor me and help the Cancer Vaccine Institute find a cure for cancer....that will one day mean beautiful people like my mum and all those touched by cancer get to live their lives longer, enjoy their families longer.....and get to live out more of their dreams.

Many thanks

Amanda
