BOOM!!! Done it. 105 miles completed today with Sarah Wright. Legs felt a bit weird post Covid jab. I have been absolutely blown away by everyone’s generosity and support. Virtually everyday I have had a running buddy, and to you all, I am so grateful, you’ve made it much easier to get out there and do it. I’m £32 away from paying for another respite session, and there’s still time to donate.....
**UPDATE** - due to huge generosity I exceeded my initial target of paying for 4 Respite sessions (5hrs each). My new target is 7 sessions of respite care. I do run, but under duress, no more than twice a week and it is definitely not a pleasure! This will be a difficult challenge for me - I have to run at least 3.4miles/day EVERY day for 31 consecutive days to achieve the target. But if I can raise awareness and any funds for this amazing charity, it will be worth it. I'm aiming to provide 20 hours of respite care - £420 in total. £105 can provide 5 hours’ worth of care for the life limited and life threatened children and young adults of Naomi House & Jacksplace. Respite care gives families the chance to regroup, to relax and to rebalance family life. Without the income from their charity shops and not being able to hold fundraising events, Naomi House has been greatly impacted by the pandemic with loss of donations - every penny will count. Naomi House & Jacksplace normally offer 24 hour respite care for the whole family through the good days, difficult days and last days. This care continues for as long as a family needs.Naomi House & Jacksplace are hospices for children and young adults with life limiting conditions and life threatening conditions. The charity provides care to people living in communities across the seven counties of central southern England. The charity has two specialist units: Naomi House for children, and Jacksplace for teenagers and young adults. Each unit offers an appropriate environment for each age group. Services offered include respite care, emergency care, end-of-life care and ongoing bereavement support. We seek to raise £9.2 million to run the two units each year, with less than 11% of income coming from the Government and other statutory bodies. As a result, we rely on the generosity of people in the community like yourself to continue its work. Your support enables the charity to provide these crucial care services, free of charge, to children, young adults and their families, so thank you!
