I've watched and supported many friends in the last few years do the H4H Big Battlefield Bike Ride with awe and admiration - riding in January and February with grit and determination in vile conditions, missing out on joining us for endless afternoons of cards and fun so I thought it was high time I joined the ranks of these rather marvelous friends and have a go myself!  This ride commemorates the centenary of the Battle of the Somme, where, like so many families, ours was decimated too.  I am riding in their honour and shall visit them again at Thiepval Memorial and Redan Ridge Cemetary No. 2 in June.  I shall be organising local fundraising events as well, but any small amount that you contribute I would be so grateful as our injured are going to need ongoing care and support for many years to come.
