Story

I'm taking on the Jog 50 Miles in November challenge to support families facing dementia across the UK. Dementia UK provides specialist dementia support for families through their Admiral Nurse service. When things get challenging or difficult for people with dementia and their families, Admiral Nurses work alongside them, giving them compassionate one-to-one support, expert guidance and practical solutions that can be difficult to find elsewhere.

My mum, Margaret, passed way from this dreadful disease in 2017.  Growing up she was the heart of our family - a mum and dad to me.  Dependable, independent and strong - she was the one who brought up the kids on her own whilst holding down demand jobs.

Dementia hit her in 2011 and it was devastating to have to watch helplessly whilst she slow faded away.  I will never get over the loss of mum - she still touches my life every day and for that I am thankful.  We have to find a way to both stop the disease, and help those who are already living with it...

Thank you for whatever you give - it means so much to me and the people who will benefit... Right - where are my running shoes????????
