Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This is my first attempt at running a marathon.
It's a new ambition for 2012 after having found that I absolutely love running. I'll start my official training on Jan 1st. To make it all worthwhile, I'd like to dedicate the whole 26 miles & 385 yards or as wikipedia tells me 42.195 kms to the prostate cancer charity.
A lovely fellow colleague from my Virgin Records' days, Robert Sandall was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2002. Sadly I heard he had lost his battle, whilst I was traveling last year. He was only aged 58.
I was touched by Robert's wit and wonderful personality. He was a true gent, great music journalist & always available for a chat about the general state of things. It was an absolute pleasure to have known and worked with him. I just wish I could have known him for longer.
I also want to run this for both my dad, Peter Roland and my fellow running buddy's father. Both were diagnosed a few years back. My dad also in 2002. We've been lucky, both our dad's have got through it. Most likely helped by our mums constant badgering to go visit the doctor at the early stages.
Please donate and make it all worth the effort. It's going to be hard not to mention all the training in advance!!
