Story
Six and a half years ago my life changed more than I ever thought possible when my beautiful, clever, loyal and loving Guide Dog Fable bounded into my life. She sadly crossed the rainbow bridge recently and in those last devastating, heartbreaking but beautiful moments I promised her I would keep living the life she showed me was possible.
Fable was not only my guide dog, my leading lady, she was my mate, my rock and she helped me accept my disability more than ever before. We had so many amazing adventures together and those memories are keeping me going.
Fable touched the lives of so many people; my family and friends loved her and she was known affectionately by my colleagues as the most important member of the Physiotherapy Lecturing team at The University of Winchester.
As I write this my world has fallen apart, my heart is broken and I can't imagine any part of my life being the same again. However, I know she would want me to keep pushing forward, she would want her memory to help raise money for more life-changing Guide Dogs like her who can give others what she gave me; freedman, acceptable, courage, love and choices.
Fable loved her free runs and so did I, we walked a section of the itchen Navigation a few times with friends and fable loved the river, she swam in it every time but the terrain is challenging when you don't have depth perception. So I'm going to walk the Itchen Navigation from Eastleigh to Winchester along with friends, family, colleagues and volunteers from our Guide Dogs family. I'm sure Fable will be there with me cheering me on (when she isn't chasing balls or swimming). I'm going to need a lot of support from my friends as sighted guides in order to stay out of the river. It will definitely be a team effort and fable would have loved being with all her 2 and 4 legged friends on this walk.
Thank you for supporting us in memory of my fabulous fable.
Run free my beautiful girl, I will always love you and will never forget your cheeky ways 💕🐾
