MAJOR CHARITY FUNDRAISING EVENT
Combining two national challenges
We hope you can assist / help us in this latest Charity Fundraising Event.
In July of this year (to coincide with the Tour de France) we are endeavouring on a major fundraising exercise for several well known local charities.
What's involved?
A charity bike ride covering the length of the UK mainland, from Lands End to John O’Groats via the National 3 peaks.
We will climb the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales, namely:- Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis, on the way to John O’Groats. We will of course not be riding up the mountains, but doing this on foot, and this encompasses two additional factors as I set out below details of the height of these mountains:-
Ben Nevis: 4,409 ft
Scafell: 3,209 ft
Snowdon: 3,560 ft
Total 11,178 ft
We will be climbing more than a third of the way up Mount Everest, and because our route has to deviate in order to take in these mountains, rather than go in a straight line (if there is such a thing from Lands End to John O’Groats) then this will add another 150 miles to our journey, giving a total riding time mileage of approximately 1,150.
When ?
7 July 2013 from Lands End
Target: To raise £25,000 for the charities listed below:-
