We are running in memory of Pippa Howarth, who died age 3 from the silent killer sepsis.
In 2014 three-year-old Pippa had been under the weather with what her parents had thought was a cold. Then one night, her breathing wasn’t normal. Her parents rushed the little girl to the hospital. Hours later, she died from sepsis.
Pippa was an active little girl who loved her Disney princesses, 'cwicket', everything pink and rough and tumble with her older brother Aubrey! Her little baby brother had just been born 10 days before she died. She had been so excited about being an older sister.
Pippa's death devastated a whole community - she had been going to North Stainley Baby and Toddler Group since she was a newborn (making her first appearance in 0-3 months clothes as she was too big for newborn!😍) and attended Nicky's pre-school down the road. Many of us hadn't even heard of sepsis until Pippa's death.
Sepsis is known as the 'silent killer' because its symptoms often mimic that of other illnesses such as the flu or gastro. But, if it is identified and treated early, patients can recover.
Your donation will help us raise awareness, support sepsis survivors and save thousands of lives every year.
