Story

In September 2024, myself and 2 friends will be taking part in the Inca Trail/Machu Picchu challenge to raise much needed funds for Demelza Hospice Care for Children.

Celebrating the life of a very brave little girl, very close to my heart,  is my primary reason for taking on this challenge of a lifetime – Lucy's laughter was contagious and her immersive focus on the things she loved was delightful to watch.  We miss her intensely!

I am proud to be part of #teamDemelza as I have seen first hand how important and necessary specialist care and emotional support is in providing the most fulfilling life possible for seriously ill children and their families!

Demelza provides expert clinical care and emotional support to children and young people with serious or terminal conditions, and their families, to live the best life they can. Working across Kent, South East London and East Sussex our specialist nursing, care, family liaison, therapist and counselling teams support families when and where it is needed most. This may be within their residential hospices in Kent or South East London, our hub in East Sussex, online, out in the community or in the family home.

Demelza’s unique support structure comes at a price, and as a charity, they are almost entirely dependent on people like us to provide the funds to keep their specialist services going so please consider donating.

I will aim to keep you posted as to my fundraising goal, training and trekking progress!  We want to help those who may not live a long life, to live a full life and we thank you for your time and your generosity.

About the charity
